About

Who is Richard Treves?

Educated as an earth scientist I was initially involved in the Aid world, working as a water Geologist in several African countries for several different agencies. Returning to the UK I have been involved in elearning and teaching at Universities since 1996. I cut my teeth at Sunderland University where I experimented with simple multimedia via XL graphs. Following this I worked as a tutor manager at the Open University from 2000 - 2003 where I was involved in running a innovative elearning course delivered to 12,500 students across the UK. After the OU I briefly worked at the Hawaiian Volcanoes Observatory where I built a flash based teaching resource.

Southampton: Since 2003 I have worked for the School of Geography at Southampton University where I am a learning developer. My principle interest is in the usability of virtual globes and the GeoWeb. I keep a blog about how to design good projects using GE. Recently I have taken on the role of Outreach Officer for the school and in this role I have published Lesson Plans.

Teaching: I am also involved in various teaching projects in the school and will shortly be presenting my own course on the GeoWeb.
